³³ Then the commander approached, took him into custody, and ordered him to be bound with two chains.^(A) He asked who he was and what he had done.

⁶ And now I stand on trial because of the hope^(A) in what God promised^(B) to our ancestors, ⁷ the promise our twelve tribes hope to reach as they earnestly serve him night and day. King Agrippa, I am being accused by the Jews because of this hope.^(C)

²⁹ “I wish before God,” replied Paul, “that whether easily or with difficulty,^[a] not only you but all who listen to me today might become as I am—except for these chains.”^(A)

²⁰ For this I am an ambassador^(A) in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy^(A) to the household of Onesiphorus,^(B) because he often refreshed me^(C) and was not ashamed of my chains.^(D)
