¹⁷ But ^(A)Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “^(B)You shall not go out again with us to battle, so that you do not extinguish ^(C)the lamp of Israel.”

³⁶ But ^(A)to his son I will give one tribe, ^(B)so that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, ^(C)the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

⁷ Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant which He had made with David, ^(A)and because He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
