49 Against the (A)Ammonites.
Thus says the Lord:
“Has Israel no sons?
Has he no heir?
Why then does [a]Milcom inherit (B)Gad,
And his people dwell in its cities?

“Surely (A)Moab shall be like Sodom,
And (B)the people of Ammon like Gomorrah—
(C)Overrun[a] with weeds and saltpits,
And a [b]perpetual desolation.
The residue of My people shall plunder them,
And the remnant of My people shall possess them.”
